Bay Area Adoption Services (BAAS) is a parent-led, non-profit, international adoption agency. Our mission is to find and support loving, able parents for orphaned, abandoned or relinquished children. The child’s welfare is our primary concern.
An avid outdoorswoman, Kim fell in love with the concept of non-profits when she was old enough to realize that not everyone gets an equal shake in life. After obtaining her B.S. degree in Business Management, she enjoyed 20+ years in the high-tech sector of Silicon Valley, and has since raised 3 wonderfully active children. Gratefully, Kim can now focus on “paying it forward” by following her passion for charitable work.
Kim’s initial role on the board empowered her to drive a new website specifically created to rebrand the dual objectives of the organization – international adoption coupled with the growing need for humanitarian aide. She is committed to developing ongoing strategy for improved communication which is critical for long term sustainability. Kim aspires to provide BAAS International the needed support required to further their global goal of “creating a sense of belonging for children worldwide”. To that end, she is honored to sponsor a young man in Uganda who will now have the opportunity to receive a full education – a prized treasure that is beyond reach for many Ugandan children.
Kim resides in Northern California with her husband Brian, their 3 young adult children, 2 labs, 4 chickens and a gecko. Never a dull moment in the Barber household!

Holding Susu in my arms for the first time in the adoption agency in Chongqing was perhaps the most emotional moment in my life. And watching her grow and flourish in San Francisco is a very moving experience for everyone around her, and most rewarding for myself, her Mom. I am very grateful to every member of the dedicated and caring BAAS team for their help and support in bringing Susu into my life, and hope my involvement now will help more families share the joys and meaning of my own journey!
