2016 Year-End Letter of Appeal
Dear BAAS Community:
The time has come when we must formally announce to you that our much-loved Executive Director, Andrea Stawitcke, is retiring. For more than 25 years, Andrea has been the leader of Bay Area Adoption Services. The positive impacts she has made, together with our BAAS family of donors, staff, volunteers, children, parents and prospective parents, have far surpassed our expectations. Andrea’s tenure with BAAS will end in early 2017, however she leaves BAAS a legacy of caring and dedication. Her endless commitment, kindness and focus to further the BAAS mission of “Creating a Sense of Belonging for Children Worldwide” has and will continue to inspire us.
Since our founding in 1984, BAAS has welcomed almost 3,000 children from over 52 countries across the globe. In addition to our adoption services, in recent years BAAS has, with the help of our generous donors, redoubled our child welfare programs to empower those children who are considered “un-adoptable” and face dire circumstances. Our work to help these impoverished and orphaned children through education, nutrition and job skills is more relevant than ever before. As we transition to new leadership –and a new name for our organization: BAAS International – we are so very grateful for your continued help which guarantees success in our work for children worldwide.
As 2016 comes to an end and we welcome 2017 with a refreshed hope for new possibilities, please consider making a year-end donation. Some donors have expressed a desire to donate in honor of Andrea, for her years of service. Others are donating in memory of a loved one. Whatever motivates you to give, we sincerely welcome, appreciate and cherish your involvement and contribution.
Wishing you and yours all the best,
BAAS International Board of Directors
Kathleen Nielsen, Marco Rosa, Kim Barber, Dean Chu, and Esther Kang
